I am Neriman Sagar, the Co-Founder of Blink Art with a heartfelt mission at the core. My passion lies in improving the lives of young people and adolescents by providing them with crucial mental health literacy and hands-on exposure to the world of art.
As the daughter of a diplomat, my childhood was an adventurous journey across the globe, with homes in countries such as Turkey, Pakistan, Yugoslavia, Kenya Tunisia, France and the United States. This multicultural experience has ignited in me a deep appreciation for the richness of diverse perspectives, making me uniquely equipped to address the psychosocial needs of children on a global scale.
My professional journey has mirrored my upbringing. I have worked in the United States and abroad in both the financial sector and international humanitarian aid organizations, leaving me with a wealth of knowledge and insights about the challenges faced by communities worldwide. My experiences have instilled in me a profound understanding of the value of diversity of thought. My charitable endeavors are rooted in my commitment to humanitarian efforts.
My deepest passion lies in providing support to individuals who have experienced stress and trauma, allowing them to be seen, accepted, and understood. Having confronted my own battle with depression and witnessed friends and family overcome serious mental health issues, I know firsthand that there is always hope. With the right support and opportunities, anyone can live their best life.
Through Blink Art, my mission is to guide young people towards developing healthy self-perceptions, strengthening relationships, and flourishing within a supportive community. My vision is to create a world where every child can thrive and belong. Outside of my mission, I treasure quality time with my daughter, sister, niece, nephew, and a wide circle of friends. I have a passion for exploration which continues to fuel my spirit, making me an avid traveler and adventurer. I enjoy immersing myself in the world of art, savoring a cup of tea, mastering the culinary arts, diving into captivating books, and honing my language skills in French, Urdu, Hindi, Italian, and Turkish. I believe in the power of empathy, resilience, and the unshakable notion that every child's future holds promise.
Join me on this inspiring journey at Blink Art, where art and mental health advocacy combine to create a brighter tomorrow for our youngest generations.
While growing up in Oregon and Texas, I was fortunate to be surrounded by the beauty of nature, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for the great outdoors. Today, at the age of 21, I find myself immersed in fulfilling summer work at Northwaters & Langskib wilderness programs based in Temagami, Ontario. My role involves guiding wilderness canoe trips for kids aged 10-19, an opportunity that allows me to merge my love for adventure with a commitment to youth development. More than just a guide, I see myself as a mentor and facilitator.
My work revolves around creating an environment that nurtures personal growth, resilience, leadership, and community building. Finding that work with youth is challenging at times is no secret, but witnessing these young minds' profound change and growth is undeniably rewarding. I firmly believe in the transformative power of nature to shape character, and I've dedicated myself to instilling these values in the next generation. Through my work, I strive to empower young minds, fostering self-discovery and laying the groundwork for a future marked by confidence, responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
Beyond the wilderness, my connection with art extends to the tangible — I built a cedar strip canoe, a testament to my love for craftsmanship and the beauty of functional art. This hands-on project served as a personal achievement and symbolizes the intersection of my love for nature and artistic expression.
Art, for me, is not just a pastime but a way to connect with people and cultures. My Waldorf education emphasized the importance of artistic expression, and I carry this ethos into my work. Through various artistic mediums, I find a unique avenue to bridge gaps and build connections with the individuals I guide on wilderness canoe trips. This shared appreciation for creativity often becomes a powerful tool for fostering understanding and unity among diverse groups.
